DR ANNIE O’CONNELL
BA.BDentsc
General and Family Dentist
After graduating from Trinity College Dublin in 2011, Annie undertook a year of Vocational Training in a busy NHS dental practice in Belfast before returning to Dublin Dental Hospital as a Senior House Officer. Working as the Special Care SHO, treating patients in the Dental Hospital, Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin, and St. James’ hospital Annie gained a wealth of experience caring for children and adults with special needs. During this time she focused on developing her skills to help nervous and phobic patients through their dental treatments by undergoing training in the use of conscious sedation. Annie also worked as a dentist in Mountjoy Prison, provided emergency on-call dentistry for many of the Dublin hospitals, and was a tutor to the undergraduate dental students.
Annie then worked for several years in a private dental practice in Malahide, Co Dublin keeping her focus on providing pain-free dentistry in a relaxed and calm environment. Over the following years Annie enjoyed attending further education lectures and workshops, gaining experience of restoring smiles with highly aesthetic composite restorations, crown, bridge, and implant restorations. Annie is also a member of the Irish Dental Association.
After spending a year living in Barcelona, Spain learning the language and enjoying having more time for singing and playing guitar and piano, Annie was delighted to be asked to join the team in Harcourt Dental Clinic. She looks forward to welcoming you to the Clinic and helping you through your dental treatments at your own pace and with the gentle, caring and friendly manner that she brings to the surgery.
